The old boy in the picture above is Lord Robert Baden-Powell,
He started Scouting back in 1908, after completing a trial camp in 1907 on Brownsea Island.
Brownsea and Poole is the birthplace of a world wide youth movement, times have changed and so has Scouting, it's not all knots and woodwork any more, todays young people have to prove themselves in everything from ironing to making a website. the chances are your skills are very relevent, esp. you are even reading this paragraph and considering volunteering. Come and talk to us about the many options open to volunteers
